In May 2010, we launched a cycling club for riders aged 6-15. The aim is to give riders the opportunity to improve their cycling skills in a safe, traffic-free environment.
Part of the Go-Ride network of community cycling clubs, coaching activities are designed to introduce young people to a range of cycling disciplines – from mountain, road and track biking to cyclocross
In 2010 the club launched its youth coaching programme aimed at riders aged 6 to 15. There are now 10 coaches and a busy team of volunteers running the bi-weekly coaching sessions.
We develop three core categories of cycling: Cycle Cross (CX), Mountian Bike (MTB) and Road with the coaches specialising in different disciplines but coaching all aspects of the sport.
We encourage a love for cycling to keep youngsters active but as British Cycling Our Go-Ride club we are also the first step on the British Cycling performance programme. We aim to develop the riders’ tactical awareness, fitness and skills so they can move along the pathway and fulfil their potential.
