We are deeply saddened to share the news that the National Club President Ken Hemsley passed away earlier this week. Ken suffered a massive stroke earlier in the month, when he was hospitalised. Unfortunately, the damage was too severe for him to recover and he died peacefully on Thursday afternoon (25th February).
Aged 80, Ken was a long-time Clarion member, firstly with his hometown Nottingham Clarion, with whom he also raced, and latterly with the Fenland section, which he joined in 2008. He became Club President in 2009, having previously being the Vice President, and served an active role on National Committee for many years. He will be sorely missed.
Ken was also a long-time supporter of the Annual Easter Meets and attended the last one (Pre COVID) in York.
Our deepest condolences go to Ken’s wife Lynn, daughters Anneatta and Kerry and their grandchildren. In line with his wishes, there will be a simple direct cremation, so there will be no funeral service.
