Formed in 1939, the Fenland Clarion is a Peterborough based, all round, cycling club. Membership puts you at the heart of the local cycling community with riders of all ages enjoying cycling at all levels and in most aspects of the sport and pastime.
Our members benefit from being able to take part in organised social events, cycle touring, leisure rides, club runs, time trials, hard and grass track, road and circuit racing, cyclo cross and mountain biking, as well junior racing and coaching.
For those new to club cycling, why not come along to one of our popular Club Runs? These gentle rides take place on Sunday mornings throughout the year and leave from Helpston village memorial with a welcoming coffee shop or café along the way. We always ride "at the pace of the slowest rider" so you needn't worry about getting dropped or left behind. Club Runs are a great way to enjoy some of our fantastic local riding and strike up some new friendships along the way.
For the sporting rider, why not give our Wednesday evening Bluebell time trial a go? Throughout the late Spring and Summer a 10 mile circular route around Helpston starts and ends on the Heath with a hot cup of tea from our famous tea urn. The Bluebells are a central part of club life and are as much about the social event as they are the racing. Many members will turn up to chat and mix with friends even if they are not racing. This is another great way to mix with clubmates and strike up new friendships.
The Fenland Clarion also have a well established Youth section, that deliver BC’s Go Ride programme, every other week at Peterborough Athletic Track in the city centre.
With a number of qualified coaches and volunteers, the club provide an introduction to cycling and opportunities and race in all disciplines.
The club is more than racing and club runs, it’s a social network where people get to meet other like-minded individuals. In addition to the organised events, many riders use the Club as a hub to organise their own leisure or training rides with groups of friends and club mates. With around 200 members, there is likely to be someone of similar age, ability and cycling interests to you.
