Nottingham’s Eddie Humphreys and Fenland’s Lindsay Clarke were victorious in the Easter Meet Time Trial at Newark. Both had ridden the previous days Challenge ride, though Humphreys had completed the 100 miler, while Clarke opted for the shorter 100km version.
The Nottingham rider won the Alf Taylor Cup and was 36 seconds too fast for defending 10 mile Champ Andy Horner (Bury) who had driven down on the morning and finished with a 25.51 on the undulating course to the south of the town.
Evergreen Clarke once again won the Bert Brown 10 mile Cup with her 28.22 time, 50 seconds ahead of Nottingham’s Elaine Simpson. Lindsay first won the Bert Brown Cup at her first Easter Meet in Skegness in 1976 as part of a Fenland Clarion team.
Ride of the day probably came from Nottingham’s Joshua Lane, who was the fastest Juvenile in 27.23 and combined with Humphreys and Simpson to give their section victory in the team competition and the Kenneth Humphries Trophy.
Trophies and medals will be awarded at the 2025 Easter Meet.
